Hollis E. Forbus nasce a Key West, Florida, il 23 gennaio del 1958. Nel 1978, alla ricerca di uno sbocco professionale solido, decide di arruolarsi nella US Navy dove consegue il grado di Petty Officer 1st Class. Il destino lo affida a Gaeta, dove giunge nel 1979. La sua vita professionale trascorre tra marina, polizia militare e ambasciata americana. A Gaeta conosce Elena, con cui ha tre figli: Stefano, Jason e Francesco.
